What is amalgam?
Amalgam is a durable tooth filling material that contains silver, tin, copper and mercury and has been used in tooth filling since the late 19th century. Amalgam filling material is a mixture of the metals obtained together. About half of the mixture consists of mercury and the rest of copper, silver and tin.
Advantages and disadvantages:
Medical circles have some doubts about the amalgam content due to mercury. The fact that mercury is a toxic substance and that many human diseases are related to the accumulation of mercury in the body justifies these doubts. There are different opinions about mercury, some say that it does no harm to health, but there is no evidence that it is harmful. Some say it is harmful to human health due to the mercury it contains.
Although the notion that amalgam filling does not harm human health is emerging around the world based on research by specialists and researchers in this field that amalgam is one of the causes of diseases such as EMS, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. Despite these views, the World Alzheimer Association says that amalgam is not harmful to human health and is not one of the causes of Alzheimer’s disease.
After all these theses and views, it is concluded that the amalgam filling is not the main cause of the diseases mentioned, but it can lead to arousal of these diseases. Proponents say mercury is a neurotoxin poison that damages the nervous system, so it can lead to the diseases mentioned above.
Autopsies on bodies of people who used amalgam fillings as tooth fillings are said to detect mercury ten times more often than without amalgam fillings.
It is stated that a lot of mercury is found in people with chronic obesity and those who have the amalgam filling removed lose weight.
The autopsy results on bodies of people with Alzheimer’s disease state that the mercury rate is much higher than in people without Alzheimer’s disease.
Although there are not many bases for the benefits of amalgam filling, it is a substance that can be used over a longer period of time compared to other filling materials used as tooth filling material.
